Cops: Driver charged with DWI after hit-and-run on Southern
A Roosevelt woman was arrested on a felony drunken driving charge after her involvement in a hit-and-run accident on the Southern State Parkway, state police said Monday.
Linda Villatoro, 24, also was found to be in possession of a fraudulent Social Security card, police said. She was identified by a Honduran passport, police said.
A trooper stopped Villatoro on the parkway near Route 135 at 6:14 a.m. Friday after the accident, police said. Her Honda Civic "showed heavy damage to the front passenger side and the entire driver side of the vehicle had damage from an apparent side swipe," police said.
During a subsequent interview, the trooper "noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from her breath," police said.
Breath analyzer results showed the driver had a blood-alcohol content of .16, police said. She had a prior driving while intoxicated conviction in 2006, making the latest charge a felony offense, police said.
After the trooper found the fraudulent care, she was charged with possession of a forged government document, also a felony. She also faces a leaving the scene of an accident charge and several traffic violations.
She is scheduled to appear Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
