Long Beach police arrested a 21-year-old Roosevelt man Thursday night after a police chase that injured two officers.

Jabori Gibson drove a stolen car through numerous red lights and stop signs during the chase, and attempted to hit police with his car, a Long Beach spokesman said.

The two injured police officers suffered minor injuries, the spokesman said.

During the chase, Gibson totalled the stolen car and damaged several others, the spokesman said.

At one point Gibson hid from police in the backseat of his car on Dalton Street and leapt to the driver's seat to throw the car into reverse when police approached, the spokesman said. He then drove forward and hit several cars, the spokesman said.

Gibson fled on foot after totalling his car and was later located by police, the spokesman said.

He was charged with numerous offenses, including reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a narcotic with intent to sell, fleeing a police officer, leaving the scene of an accident, operating a motor vehicle while impaired by a drug and criminal possession of stolen property, the spokesman said.

Police initially pursued Gibson on Tuesday for an undisclosed reason, and police again tried to pull him over Thursday night when an off-duty officer saw him driving in Long Beach and called police, police said.

Gibson is due in court at Long Beach Friday. His case with then be transferred to the Nassau County court system, the spokesman said.
