A Brentwood man pulled over in Bethpage while driving with a suspended license late Sunday was arrested after he tried to stop his sport utility vehicle from being towed, State Police said.

Anthony Palazzolo, 27, failed to stop at two signs on North Linden Street at about 11:22 p.m., police said in a Monday news release.

Troopers found that Palazzolo's license was suspended, and after they called for a tow truck to impound his black Ford Expedition, Palazzolo tried to prevent it by "physically stepping in between the tow truck and his vehicle," according to the release.

Palazzolo was arrested on charges of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, disorderly conduct, failing to stop for a stop sign and other traffic violations.

He is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Hempstead on April 23.
