Cops: Drug charges in air-conditioner theft

Brett Cohen, 22, of New Cassel, was arrested after he allegedy stole an exterior air conditioning unit from a Hicksville home. Upon Cohen's arrest, Nassau County Police say they recovered heroin and a hypodermic needle in his car. Police arrested a New Cassel man on Friday after witnesses reported him removing an outside central air-conditioning unit from a Hicksville home.
Police said plainclothes officers from the Second Precinct later arrested Cohen while he was exiting his vehicle outside his home. Police said officers found two envelopes of heroin and hypodermic needles inside the car.
Cohen faces multiple charges: fourth-degree grand larceny, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument.
Cohen is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
