A Lynbrook man stopped on suspicion of making an illegal U-turn was found to have 400 Valium, assorted other pills and a small amount of marijuana in his vehicle, State Police said.

Brian Stephens, 34, who has a 2004 DWI conviction, was also driving while intoxicated and had a loaded shotgun and ammunition in the trunk, police said.

A trooper stopped the Jeep Cherokee driven by Stephens at 11:55 p.m. Sunday on Old Country Road at the Wantagh Parkway overpass in Westbury, police said.

"Mr. Stephens had slurred speech, poor motor coordination, bloodshot watery eyes, and a strong odor of marijuana and an alcoholic beverage," State Police said in a statement.

Stephens had a breath-alcohol sample of .19 percent, more than double the legal limit, police said. He was held for arraignment on charges of felony DWI, criminal possession of a weapon and several traffic violations, police said.
