A Syosset man was arrested on reckless and drunken-driving charges Wednesday morning after he was caught driving more than 110 mph in a Maserati on the Long Island Expressway, Nassau police said.

An officer with the Highway Patrol Bureau was monitoring westbound traffic at about 3 a.m. at Exit 46 when he saw the speeding 2005 Maserati passing motorists in a posted 55 mph zone, police said in a news release.

The officer stopped the car at Exit 44 and determined the driver, identified as Joseph Carbone 49, of 21 Coventry Rd., was drunk, police said.

Carbone was arrested and his car seized, police said.

He faces charges of first-degree reckless endangerment, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and driving in excess of 55 mph, police said.

Carbone is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court, Hempstead.
