Cops: DWI charge for sleeping driver on Loop
A Melville woman asleep at the wheel of her blue Honda Saturday morning with its motor running on the Loop Parkway has been arrested on a felony drunken driving charge, State Police said.
Alyssa Jimenez, 33, of 4 Jacobs Path, was found sleeping at the wheel, stopped in the eastbound lanes of the Long Beach parkway, near the drawbridge, at about 1:18 a.m., according to a report.
Troopers noticed the smell of alcohol and Jimenez registered .18 percent on a breath-analyzer reading, the report said.
Subsequent investigation revealed that Jimenez has a previous DWI conviction, in 2005. Because of that conviction, Jimenez is charged with felony DWI and several traffic violations, police said.
Arraignment information was not immediately available.
