Cops: Elmont man faces child-porn charges

A man was arrested Tuesday at his home in Elmont on charges he possessed -- and, promoted -- child pornography, police said.
Jonathan J. Silva, 28, of 340 Kirkman Ave., was remanded on $50,000 bail, cash or bond, at his arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead. He is due back in court on Friday.
Police arrested Silva on five counts of promoting the sexual performance of a child and five counts of possession of the sexual performance of a child
Police said Silva had used an online file-sharing network to obtain access to and promote "numerous videos containing sexual acts" by a child.
He was arrested at his home without incident at about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
