Cops: Elmont teen attacks man, steals iPhone
Nassau police charged an Elmont teen with punching a man and stealing his iPhone in Floral Park Saturday after claiming to be interested in buying it, authorities said.
Reggy Elizer, 16, of Chelsea Street, responded to an online posting for the sale of the phone and agreed to meet the seller outside Sewanhaka High School, officials said.
Around 6:45 p.m., police said, Elizer approached the seller, 21, striking him in the face and head before running away with the phone.
Witnesses called police, and they detained Elizer around the street on Landau Avenue, authorities said.
Detectives discovered that Elizer had been accused of stealing another iPhone on July 4 in Elmont, according to Nassau police.
Elizer was charged as an adult and pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree robbery and petty larceny Saturday at his arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead, officials said. He was ordered held on bail of $3,500 cash, or $7,000 bond, and was ordered to appear in Nassau County Court in Mineola on Wednesday, court officials said.
