Cops: Ex-worker burglarizes Stewart Manor bagel shop
A South Floral Park man let go from his job at a Stewart Manor bagel store returned to burglarize the store three times, partly in retaliation and partly to fuel his drug habit, Nassau County police said Monday.
John Parris, 42, broke into My Three Sons Bagels on March 15 and again Thursday through a basement window, and then through a rear door Friday, police said.
He was tracked down by detectives from the Third Squad after the store surveillance system recorded the final burglary, according to Det. Lt. Raymond Cote. Parris stole cash each time, police said.
"He felt slighted after he was let go. This was partly to exact revenge and partly to fuel a crack binge," Cote said.
Store owner Arduino "Eddie" D'Amico said he had been worried about the health of Parris, who had shown up for work appearing ill on March 14, the day before the first burglary.
"I was concerned about him. He almost fell asleep on top of the grill. I told him to go home and I'd call him, but then this," D'Amico said.
Parris was arrested Sunday and charged with three counts of third-degree burglary, police said. He was scheduled for arraignment Monday in First District Court in Hempstead.
