A motorist was arrested on a felony drunken driving charge after fleeing an accident scene on the Northern State Parkway on foot, State Police said Monday.

The arrest came after state troopers responded at 2:49 a.m. Sunday to a crash on the westbound side of the Northern at Exit 29A in Roslyn Heights, police said.

"When troopers arrived on the accident scene, they observed the driver of a gray Acura involved in the accident fleeing on foot," police said in a Monday news release. "Troopers apprehended the man without incident."

Police did not provide details of the accident, such as whether there were other cars involved or any injuries.

The fleeing driver, Fantakos Dimitrios, 34, of Baldwin, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated because he's had at least one DWI conviction in the past 10 years, police said. He was being held for arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead.
