Cops: Freeport man arrested on gun charge

Freeport Police officers arrested a Freeport man for criminal possession of a weapon at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Nassau detectives said.

Police said that officers, responding to a report of a man with a gun, watched Lawrence Brown, 45, crouch next to a motor home on South Ocean Avenue and walk away.

They stopped him and found a .22 caliber revolver next to the mobile home's rear wheel, police said.

Brown is scheduled to be arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead.
