Cops: Freeport man charged in string of burglaries
He broke into American Burgers, Millennium Discount, the Hoo King Chinese restaurant, Sole and The Biggest Banana, police said.
Now, the five-month-long string of burglaries police said Pedro Infante committed has ended with his arrest Wednesday - at a state parole office in Farmingdale.
Infante, 36, of Washington Place, Freeport, was arrested at 5:45 p.m. at the New York State Parole Office, linked to the five burglaries by evidence left behind during the commission of one of those burglaries, police said.
In a news release early Thursday, police did not detail that evidence.
Infante was charged with five counts of third-degree burglary in connection with the break-ins, which occurred between Nov. 13 and Tuesday, when police said Infante tripped an alarm at the Sole restaurant on Oceanside Road in Oceanside during a break-in at 12:45 a.m. He fled without stealing anything, police said.
In the previous break-ins in Freeport and Oceanside, Infante took "cash and proceeds," police said.
The first burglary occurred at American Burgers at 326A Sunrise Hwy. in Rockville Centre at 12:05 a.m. on Nov. 13, police said. It was followed by break-ins at Millennium Discount, 58 South Main St., Freeport, at 12:04 a.m. on Dec. 14; The Biggest Banana, 3359 Long Beach Rd., Oceanside, at 3:26 a.m. on March 26; Hoo King Chinese restaurant, 3291 Long Beach Rd., Oceanside, at 12:45 a.m. on April 5; and, the break-in at Sole in Oceanside.
Infante is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead. It wasn't immediately clear why Infante had to report to the parole office.
