Cops: Freeport man used knife to steal bike

First Squad detectives arrested a Freeport man Sunday for allegedly using a knife to steal another man's bicycle, Nassau County police said.

Nestor Cruz, 31, of 7 Wallace St., took a bike from an 18-year-old man in Freeport at 11:43 p.m., police said, and showed a knife, threatening to stab him.

The victim gave Cruz the bike but followed him and then alerted the police, who made the arrest, according to a news release.

Cruz is charged with robbery, possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
