A Roosevelt teen who police say is a "known Blood gang member" was arrested on weapons possession charges Wednesday night after he pointed a handgun at a group of men, Nassau County's special investigations squad said.

Marvin L. Simmons, 18, of 54 Pleasant Ave., was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon after police responded to a report of a large fight near Roosevelt Middle School with possible shots fired, police said.

When detectives arrived at the scene at around 7:30 p.m., a group of men were standing near the school in a verbal exchange with four men in a red Ford Explorer. One of the men in the Explorer was pointing a handgun at the group from the vehicle's window, police said.

All four men in the Explorer were taken into custody, police said, but only Simmons was arrested. A handgun was recovered, police said.

Simmons was to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
