A 34-year-old Great Neck woman who left her 3-year-old daughter and 11-month-old son unattended in her car for a half-hour while she returned beauty supplies was arrested Friday on two counts of child endangerment charges, Nassau County police said.

According to police, an officer was told by a motorist that the two children were alone in the car at about 6:30 p.m. outside the Sephora store at 1950 Northern Blvd. in Manhasset. The officer found the two children in the backseat of the locked car and managed to get into the car.

Police said the children's mother, Virginie O. Cohen, of Nirvana Avenue, arrived about 10 minutes later and said she was gone for about 30 minutes to return an item at the store.

Police said the mother was arrested and later released on a court appearance ticket for June 15.

The children were released unharmed to their father, police said. Child Protective Services was also notified and is investigating, police said.
