An employee of a Hempstead auto body shop fired a 12-gauge shotgun at an unoccupied pickup truck in the care of an adjoining auto shop Saturday morning, Nassau police said.

Police charged Enrique Manuel, 23, of Manhattan, with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal use of a firearm, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief after the 4:37 a.m. incident.

"There's an ongoing dispute of some sort" between the neighboring Main Street auto body shops, a police spokeswoman said.

Police found a Ford F-350 truck with pellet damage to the passenger side window, mirror, door and windshield.

Officers recovered the shotgun and arrested Manuel without incident, police said.

Manuel is scheduled to be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
