Cops: Gunman threatens to rob, shoot victim

A masked gunman demanded money from a man walking out of a Franklin Square gym and threatened to shoot him Friday morning, Nassau police said.

The victim, 34, came out of the Synergy Fitness on Hempstead Turnpike about 12:20 a.m. and was approached by the suspect, who wore dark clothing and a black mask that covered his mouth and nose, police said.

The suspect displayed a black handgun, police said, but when he realized the victim had no money, he put the weapon into his waistband and walked away.

No injuries were reported.

Detectives ask anyone with information to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
