Detectives are investigating a fight that erupted into gunfire Sunday afternoon in Hempstead, Nassau County police said.

At around 2:09 p.m. two groups of men got into an altercation at Linden and Evans avenues and at some point the two groups began shooting at each other, police said.

No one was reported injured, but police said a vinyl fence and a vehicle parked nearby were damaged by bullets.

Detectives from the Third Squad are investigating. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477.
