A Hempstead man was arraigned in First District Court Thursday for attempted murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Police say Brian K. Thomas, 22, shot a 20-year-old Hempstead man who was standing outside his Henry Street home on Aug. 5. The man was taken to a hospital and is in critical but stable condition.

Officers saw Thomas enter a vehicle on Fulton Avenue in Hempstead on Wednesday before arresting him.
