Cops: Hempstead man jailed upstate on tickets
A 54-year-old Hempstead man was arrested by State Police troopers in the Binghamton area Tuesday after the officers found he'd failed to answer more than a dozen-and-a-half requests to pay traffic tickets, police said.
State Police said Jerry A. Marshall was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after a traffic stop in the Town of Barker, north of Binghamton. Police said Marshall's license was suspended in South Carolina and New York because more than 18 times he had failed to answer tickets.
Marshall was arraigned in Town of Barker Court and remanded to the Broome County jail without bail, police said.
