Cops: Hewlett couple tied up, robbed at gunpoint

A Hewlett couple was tied up at gunpoint in their home Saturday evening by two men who broke in and stole money and jewelry, Nassau County police said Sunday.
As a 73-year-old man returned to his Lakeview Drive home at 8:15 p.m. and opened his garage door, he was approached by two masked men, one carrying a handgun, who forced him inside, police said.
One of them forced the man to walk from room to room while demanding money and property, police said, while the other found the victim's wife, 72, in the master bedroom and demanded money and property from her, police said.
After the bandits gathered cash and jewelry, they tied the hands of both victims behind their backs, put them in the master bedroom, then left the home, police said.
The victims were able to free themselves and called 911 after the suspects left, police said. They were not injured, according to police.
There was no further description of the suspects Sunday.
