Police Wednesday said they arrested a Hicksville man who had several thousand rounds of ammunition in his home as well as illegal guns.

Charles Marrone, 49, of 58 Wellesley Lane, was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and five counts of dangerous weapons possession in the fourth degree, Nassau police said in a news release.

Police responding to an anonymous tip went to Marrone's house, where they found Marrone had a loaded 30-30 Winchester rifle in his car, as well as two illegal handguns, four rifles and several thousand rounds of ammunition in his house, they said in the release.

Marrone also had a felony warrant for probation violation out of upstate Orange County.

A Nassau County police spokeswoman said Marrone was on probation for a felony DWI.

A felon cannot own a gun under state law, the spokeswoman said.

Marrone was to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
