Nassau police said they arrested an East Meadow man Monday on charges that he assaulted a Hicksville restaurant employee, leaving him blind in one eye.

Police said that Premaras Selvaratnam, 31, was part of a group who was asked to leave the Copper Wok restaurant Friday after causing a disturbance.

Selvaratnam swung a bar stool at the male employee, 36, injuring the employee's head and left eye, and causing him to lose sight in the eye, police said.

Selvaratnam, arrested at a Hicksville Dunkin' Donuts where he works, is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead, officials said.
