Cops: Hicksville woman in stolen car rams police cruiser

A 47-year-old Hicksville woman faces driving while intoxicated and grand larceny charges and assorted traffic infractions after police said she attempted to leave the scene of an accident in a stolen car Saturday and struck a police car.

Nassau County police said Lisette Giovanelli, 47, of Marie Street East, was arrested following the second accident at 12:08 p.m. She was arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead. Details were not immediately available.

Police said Giovanelli was involved in an auto accident on Pine Street in Hicksville and was trying to flee in blue Toyota when police arrived.

Two marked units attempted to stop her, police said, but Giovanelli collided with one.

A subsequent investigation found the car had been reported stolen on Thursday, police said, leading to the arrest.
