Cops: Homeless man arrested in NUMC bomb threat
Police arrested a homeless man in New Cassel Wednesday night, charging him with making a bomb threat a day earlier at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.
Victor Perez, 48, was charged with making a terroristic threat after his arrest at 10:30 p.m. and faces arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Nassau County police said Perez "made an anonymous call from a Westbury pay phone" to the medical center late Tuesday night, stating "there was a bomb in the hospital." Police said the call prompted a search inside and outside the hospital, with no findings.
It was not clear on Thursday how police linked Perez to the call.
