A homeless man has been arrested and charged in an October robbery at a jewelry store on Main Street in Hempstead, Nassau County police said.

Christful Fouse, 28, was charged with third-degree robbery on Wednesday and is scheduled to appear in First District Court in Hempstead on Friday.

Police said Fouse, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, black jeans and white sneakers, walked into Gold Town Jewelers on Oct. 5, asked to see a pair of square silver earrings, then elbowed a security guard in the face, knocking him to the floor, and fled with the earrings.

It was not clear what led investigators to Fouse, but police said the earrings were recovered during the arrest.
