A man was shot several times early Sunday in Valley Stream but is expected to recover, said police, who are hunting for his assailant.

Police said the shooting happened at a commercial building at 40 Lois Place just before 1 p.m. The victim, police said, was taken by helicopter to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow to be treated for nonlife-threatening injuries and was in stable condition.

A man who lives within yards of where the shooting happened who asked not to be identified said the victim was a manager at a cleaning company on Lois Place and that he'd been shot in the leg several times.

As of late Sunday evening, police said they had yet to make an arrest.
