Cops hunt suspect in Baldwin assault
Police are searching for a john who forced a paid escort in Baldwin "to submit to his sexual demands" at gunpoint, police said.
The woman had tried to leave an address on Forest Avenue Saturday morning after she "recognized the subject from a previous incident" in December, but he stopped her and forced himself on her, police said.
After he fled, she called police, who surrounded the house for nearly five hours before taking several people into custody. They were later determined not to have been involved.
The john was still at large last night. Police did not elaborate on what happened in the December incident.
The woman, who police said was from Queens, was taken to be examined at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, said police spokesman Det. Lt. Kevin Smith.
No one answered the door when police arrived at the address soon after the report Smith said.
Officers called the house repeatedly and eventually reached someone inside, Smith said. Officers also contacted the homeowner, who was not home during the incident, police said.
"There was talk that there might have been a weapon involved, so there was concern for the community," Smith said.
Neither the man being sought nor the woman making the accusation live at the house, authorities said.
Between 10 and 10:30 a.m., four men came out of the house and police took two into custody.
Though nearby streets were blocked off most of the morning, no homes were evacuated and no neighbors were injured.
