Nassau police identified a 75-year-old woman struck by a car and killed while crossing Jericho Turnpike in New Hyde Park as Joan Van Grembergen of Bellerose Manor.

The accident occurred about 6:45 p.m. Friday when Van Grembergen and another woman, age 80, were crossing from north to south in front of 214 Jericho Tpke., police said. They were hit by a 2003 Nissan Xterra, police said and were taken to a hospital by the New Hyde Park Fire Department.

The 80-year-old, whom police did not identify, had a broken femur. Police said the driver, identified only as an 18-year-old Garden City resident, is not facing charges.
