Nassau County police Tuesday identified the man found slain in a parking lot Sunday as Jose Romero, 31, of Roosevelt, police said.

Homicide Squad detectives are still investigating the death. Police said Romero was found in the lot at 338 Nassau Rd. in Roosevelt after an altercation at 7:10 p.m.

He was transported to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, where he was pronounced dead at 9:27 p.m.

A police spokesman said Monday that Romero died of the cuts but could not provide additional details. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
