Cops: Illegal cabbie exposed himself to young passenger

A Roosevelt man who operates an illegal cab service was arrested Thursday, charged with exposing himself to a 6-year-old girl he picked up in December, as investigators attempt to determine if he has had illegal contact with other victims, police said.
Neri M. Garcia-Ramos, 36, of 69 E. Clinton Ave., was located on Nassau Road in Roosevelt at 4:40 p.m. and arrested after an investigation by detectives from the Nassau County police Special Victims Squad.
Garcia-Ramos was jailed on $25,000 cash or bond at his arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead. Garcia-Ramos, also charged with public lewdness, is due back in court Tuesday.
Police said that at 9 p.m. Dec. 28, Garcia-Ramos, operating a red 2003 Ford Focus as an illegal cab service, was called to transport the girl from her aunt's home in Freeport to her home in Roosevelt. Instead, police said, Garcia-Ramos drive the child to Carroll Street, off Babylon Turnpike in Roosevelt -- parking the car, climbing into the rear seat and exposing himself to the child.
When the girl began to cry, police said Garcia-Ramos got back in the driver's seat and drove her home, leaving her without collecting a fare.
Police said they are seeking additional potential victims of Garcia-Ramos and are asking anyone with knowledge of any other incidents to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
All calls will remain confidential, police said.
