A 40-year-old man carrying a shopping bag containing sneakers was robbed in the driveway of his home in Lakeview Sunday evening, police said.

Nassau County police said the robbery took place at 9:40 p.m. on Jefferson Avenue.

Police said the man suffered a bruise to his right forearm after being jumped by at least four robbers, who stole the shopping bag and then ran off.

Police said the incident began as the man approached his home and saw two people standing in his driveway.

One of the robbers asked him for money, then punched him in the face when he refused, police said. Then, as the man tried to enter his home, police said he was robbed of his sneakers.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
