A Levittown woman was arrested on a drunken driving charge early Friday after she was stopped for speeding in a construction zone on the Northern State Parkway in East Williston, state police said.

Casilda Tavernese, 35, of 5 Cornflower Rd., was pulled over near Exit 30, I.U. Willets Road, at about 1:45 a.m. after she was caught going 71 mph in a 45 mph zone, state police said.

The trooper "noticed she had watery eyes, slow speech, and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her breath," police said in a news release.

Tavernese "produced a positive breath sample" of .08 blood-alcohol content and was charged with DWI and speeding, police said.

She is to appear Aug. 16 in First District Court, Hempstead, police said.
