Cops: Locust Valley pharmacy burglary may be part of pattern
An early morning burglary at a Locust Valley pharmacy is being investigated as part of a series of pattern burglaries, Nassau police said Monday.
Police said Robbery Squad detectives are investigating the burglary at Locust Valley Chemists on Forest Avenue.
The burglary was reported at 12:20 a.m. Monday, police said.
It was not immediately clear if police had a suspect or suspects in custody.
Police also did not immediately say why the burglary was being investigated as part of a possible pattern.
Whoever broke into Locust Valley Chemists had thrown a "Belgian block" stone through the storefront, said pharmacy owner Robert Coyne. In at least two recent overnight break-ins of Nassau pharmacies, cinder blocks were used to smash through the storefronts' glass, police said in earlier news releases. Prescription medications were stolen from Smith Pharmacy in Hicksville on Thursday and Harry's Pharmacy in Hicksville on Sept. 22, police said.
