Cops: Long Beach man charged in robbery at vacant home
A Long Beach man was arrested and charged with assault and the armed robbery Friday of three men inside a vacant home, Long Beach police said Monday.
Jordan Ayala was ordered held on $200,000 bail after his Saturday arraignment in Long Beach City Court on multiple robbery charges, assault and criminal use of a firearm, police said.
Three men went to a house on East Pine Street to look at a computer they believed was for sale, police said, but after entering the house, they were forced to the ground by men wearing ski masks and armed with a shotgun and a revolver.
One victim was beaten with the shotgun, police said, and suffered nonlife threatening injuries that required medical treatment at a hospital.
The gunmen took cash and jewelry, police said, and then left the house, which had previously been vacant for some time, police said.
Ayala was picked up a short time later, police said, was identified as one of the attackers, and arrested.
Long Beach detectives said their investigation is continuing.
