Cops: Lynbrook duo charged in attack
Two Lynbrook residents were arrested on robbery and weapon possession charges early Tuesday after they attacked a man at their home, then fled in their car, police said.
Shaquan Lewis, 29, and Arnetha Humphrey, 30, both of 158 Atlantic Ave., hit the man repeatedly in the head and body with a handgun; they took a gold chain from his neck, Nassau police said in a news release. After the two drove off in a white Hyundai, the Lynbrook police responded and broadcast a description of the suspect, police said.
Lynbrook officers saw the car on Sunrise Highway and pulled it over, then arrested both suspects at 12:44 a.m. The officers found a loaded 9-mm handgun, and the gold chain, in the car, police said.
Both suspects faced first-degree charges of robbery and criminal possession of a weapon, and Lewis also was charged with first-degree criminal use of a firearm. They were scheduled for arraignment Tuesday at First District Court, Hempstead.
The victim was treated and released at a hospital.
