A man arguing with his girlfriend on Valentine's Day abducted her from her job in Westbury early Tuesday evening, according to Nassau police.

The two had been bickering earlier over his taking her cellphone. Then the man, Jose Mejia, 20, of Freeport, yanked the girlfriend, 21, out of her Westbury workplace, at 265 Post Ave., and pushed her into the backseat of his car at about 5:13 p.m., police said.

Witnesses called police, who tracked down and stopped Mejia's vehicle at Old Country Road and Merchants Concourse in Westbury, less than a mile away from the woman's workplace.

No one was hurt. Charges against Mejia include unlawful imprisonment. He is to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
