Talk about a buzz kill.
A California man was arrested Wednesday after a Nassau County police officer posing as a UPS driver delivered a 25-pound box of marijuana to a house in Elmont -- and he retrieved it from the front steps.
Police said David Banks, 47, of 1109 Fairview Blvd., Inglewood, Calif., was arrested at the home on Lehrer Avenue at 4:45 p.m. He was charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana.
He was being held on $50,000 bond, or $25,000 bail, following his arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead. He is scheduled to return to court Monday.
Police said the United Parcel Service had "intercepted" the marijuana shipment and said undercover officers, including a K-9 team, then staked out the delivery location while another officer, posing as a UPS driver, delivered the package.
