A Freeport man was arrested early Sunday for shooting a gun at a party in Roosevelt, Nassau police said.

Police, responding to a ShotSpotter alert, went to the party on Williams Street at about 1:45 a.m. and found 9-mm shells on the ground in the backyard.

After an investigation, police said they determined that Kenton Sherwood, 32, had fired the gun. Police also found a black and silver 9mm handgun at the scene.

There were no reported injuries.

Sherwood was charged with two counts of criminal use of a firearm, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon. He was scheduled to be arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead.
