A Massapequa man was charged with kidnapping a woman and forcing her at gunpoint to drive him from Massapequa to Amityville, Nassau police said Tuesday.

Kevin Benloss, 36, was arraigned Tuesday and ordered held without bail, authorities said.

At 7 p.m. on July 15, Benloss went up two women in a car parked near Merrick Road and Clocks Boulevard in Massapequa, police said. Showing his gun, he ordered one woman, 29, to get out of the car, and when he got in, he pointed his weapon at the other woman, 32, ordering her to drive him, police said.

After arriving at a Maple Place home in Amityville, Benloss got out of the car and fired rounds into the air and car, police said. He then ran off on foot, police said.

No injuries were reported, police said.

The driver called 911 and Suffolk and Amityville Village police searched for the gunman, police said.

Benloss, of 98 Stone Blvd., surrendered to Nassau's Seventh Precinct detectives Monday afternoon. The car was impounded, police said. The weapon was not recovered, police said.

Benloss was arraigned Tuesday on second-degree kidnapping, first-degree robbery, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of second-degree menacing, police said.
