A Bellmore man is to be arraigned Monday on charges stemming from an early Saturday incident in which he drove to a home in Merrick with 20 teens and broke down the front door, intent on assaulting a 17-year-old boy who lived there, police said.
The suspect was chased off by the teen's bat-wielding father, police said in a Monday morning news release. No one was injured.
Joseph Horan, 20, of Boundary Road, was arrested Sunday and charged with second-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief, police said. He is scheduled for arraignment Monday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Horan drove to the home on Frankel Boulevard in Merrick with "approximately 20 teenage boys" and said he was intent on assaulting a teen who lived in the home -- before the victim's father "armed himself with a baseball bat and ordered Horan to leave," police said.
It was not clear what triggered the alleged dispute.
