A 31-year-old man was carjacked by four gunmen Thursday night in Roosevelt, Nassau County police said.

The victim, whose identity was not released, was not injured in the incident, which began at the intersection of Nassau Road and Woods Avenue at about 11:40 p.m. Police said the vehicle, a green 2007 Toyota, was found hours later on Madison Avenue in Hempstead. No arrests have been made.

Police said that four "male subjects," all "armed with handguns," approached the vehicle at the intersection, forced their way into the vehicle -- and ordered the victim to drive northbound on Nassau Road, then right onto East Greenwich Avenue. There, police said, two of the carjackers ordered the man out of the vehicle. Those two carjackers then grabbed the victim's wallet, cash and cellphone and fled on foot back toward Nassau Road while the other two carjackers took the vehicle and drove east toward Park Avenue. Police said the victim then called 911. Hempstead police officers discovered the vehicle several hours later. It was not clear if the vehicle was intact.

Police said the gunmen all wore black clothing and said three wore sunglasses. Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
