A 25-year-old Hempstead man was arrested Monday after police said officers saw him checking doors and windows in an attempt to break into four separate houses in Hempstead.

Marvin Caswell of Brown Avenue was charged with four counts of second-degree attempted burglary and will be arraigned Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Hempstead police officers said they saw Caswell casing the houses on Ingraham Street and Willow Avenue at 2:10 p.m. Monday. The officers watched Caswell for 20 minutes before arresting him, police said.
