Nassau County police have arrested and charged an East Meadow man with assault after they say he unintentionally fired an air pistol at a 15-year-old boy last week, leaving the boy with a serious eye injury.
Jonathan Ryan, 22, is charged with second-degree assault, tampering with physical evidence, second-degree reckless endangerment and making a punishable false written statement, police said in a Monday morning news release.
The incident, which happened at about 6:15 p.m. on June 30 in North Bellmore, left the 15-year-old with a serious injury to his left eye, police said. He is being treated at a hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
Ryan was arrested in Rockville Centre Sunday at about 11 p.m., police said. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in First District Court in Hempstead.
