A Far Rockaway man, upset he would not have a chance to win back money he lost in a dice game, beat and robbed another man Sunday, Nassau County police said.

Walter Velasquez, 34, was among acquaintances in Inwood Park, playing dice at about 9 p.m., Fourth Squad detectives said.

After winning $150, one of the players, a 25-year-old man, decided he was going to leave the game. Velasquez, angry that he would not have a chance to win his money back, attacked the man, "punching him in the face repeatedly, knocking him to the ground," police said in a news release.

Velasquez then reached inside the victim's pants pocket, took the $150 and left on foot, police said.

The victim called 911, and Velasquez was found and arrested a short time later on Bayview Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard in Inwood. The victim had minor injuries and declined medical attention, police said.

Velasquez, of 1472 Beach Channel Dr., Apt 5D, is charged with robbery and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
