Cops: Man checking on noisy car robbed at gunpoint
A 23-year-old man was robbed in Roosevelt late Sunday after he pulled over his car to check on a noise, police said.
Police said man was driving his 2012 Honda when he stopped at Third Place and Valentine Street after hearing a mechanical noise coming from his car, police said.
When he got out to check on the noise, the man was approached from behind by an unknown man who pushed both of them into the car, police said. The suspect said he had a gun and demanded money. The victim handed over some money at about 10:20 p.m. and then the robber took a cellphone from the car and fled on foot east on Valentine Street, police said.
There were no injuries reported and no weapon was recovered, police said.
Police described the suspect as 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 20 to 30 years old, with medium build and a goatee.
