Cops: Man dead of apparent suicide in Sea Cliff

A man was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound on a bench near a boardwalk area south of Mosquito Cove in Sea Cliff early Friday morning, police said.

A female passerby reported the incident in a 911 call placed at about 7 a.m., Nassau County police said. Police said responding officers found the man dead of an apparent suicide.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

Police said the area has been cordoned off for investigation.
