Investigators are trying to determine if a medical episode led to a crash that left a 50-year-old Cedarhurst man dead Monday evening in East Meadow.

Paul Wentz was pronounced dead at Nassau University Medical Center after the crash on westbound Hempstead Turnpike at 7:08 p.m.

Nassau County police said there was no apparent cause for the crash, in which the 2012 Subaru Outback driven by Wentz went out of control, crossed the center divider and all eastbound lanes, then struck two utility poles before overturning.

No one else was in the vehicle and there were no other reported injuries, police said.

Police said Wentz was taken to the hospital by police ambulance and was pronounced dead at 7:34 p.m.

The car was impounded for brake and safety checks.
