A Woodmere man was arrested and charged with menacing a Manhasset code enforcement officer after he drove a car toward the officer twice Tuesday morning, Nassau police said.

Andrew Bass, 59, of 1027 Fordham Lane, who surrendered to police, also was charged with reckless endangerment and obstructing governmental administration.

A 50-year-old code-enforcement officer was in parking lot 4 at Colonial Parkway and Locust Street at 10:10 a.m., police said, when he was forced twice to jump between parked cars to avoid a car accelerating toward him driven by Bass.

The enforcement officer, who had issued a parking ticket to Bass in the past and was threatened at that time, police said, recorded Bass' license plate and notified authorities.

Bass was to be arraigned Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
